EasyJewel 5.0 – Desktop laser engraving for jewellers

On show in the UK for the first time is the EasyJewel 5.0 – the fifth generation laser engraving system for rings, bangles and other jewellery items will be shipping from April 2018.

This unique new desktop engraving system from Coherent | Rofin combines high precision mechanics, a versatile fibre laser, and powerful yet easy-to-use software to deliver unmatched part-to-part consistency and high quality.  Specifically, the EasyJewel 5.0  features a completely redesigned housing concept from its predecessors in which the laser head moves while the part is held stationary.  This simplifies the design of tooling to hold the part during marking, and also makes it easier and faster to load and unload parts during production.  High quality galvanometer scanners, motion systems and mechanical components ensure long term machine stability and eliminate thermal drift, ensuring superior mark accuracy and consistency – a particularly important advantage when marking high value components like jewellery and watches.

The EasyJewel also employs proprietary software developed internally at Coherent | Rofin that substantially simplifies job setup through the use of an easily understood graphical user interface.  This software even enables the system to be used by semi-skilled individuals.  Plus, an integrated vision system allows the operator to see precisely where the mark will be placed before processing, thus ensuring successful results, and reducing the risk of hitting an existing stone or hallmark.   The software also provides access to sophisticated functionality, such as On-The-Fly-Marking, which permits processing of long parts that require continuous feed through the machine, and a Ring Marking Module, that facilitates marking on both the inner and outer surfaces of round parts like precious metal rings.

The EasyJewel is a versatile marking system which can produce both vector and grayscale marks on a wide range of materials – not just precious metals.  It is available with either a 20 W, 30 W or 50 W fibre laser, and provides a 120 mm x 120 mm x 120 mm workspace, yet occupies only 760 mm x 590 mm x 570 mm, permitting its use in even the most space constrained workshop environments.

See the EasyJewel at Jewellery & Watch 2018 from 4-8 February.  Coherent | Rofin can be found in Hall 18 and Stand P51.  Talk to the experts to find out which solution is best for your needs.
